Multi Rip Saw Machine 02

The saw blades of multi-rip saw machines are generally used for wood processing, including materials like fir, poplar, pine, eucalyptus, imported wood, and miscellaneous wood. They are widely utilized in industries such as log processing, square wood processing, edge cleaning machines, and furniture manufacturing. Simple multi-rip saw machines can typically use 4-6 saw blades, while upper and lower axis models can accommodate 8 saw blades or even more than 40, greatly enhancing workers’ efficiency. These saw blades are designed with a certain number of heat dissipation holes and expansion slots or include multiple scrapers to achieve better heat dissipation and smoother chip removal.

1. The Outer Diameter of Saw Blades

The outer diameter primarily depends on the installation restrictions of the machine and the thickness of the cutting material. Small diameters can start at 110 mm, while larger diameters can reach 450 mm or more. Some saw blades may need to be installed simultaneously above and below or from left to right to avoid increasing the size. The saw blade diameter allows for larger cutting thickness while reducing blade costs.

2. The Number of Teeth of Saw Blades

To reduce machine resistance, increase the durability of the saw blade, and minimize noise, saw blades of multi-rip saw machines are generally designed with fewer teeth. For outer diameters of 110-180 mm, there are typically about 12-30 teeth, while blades with outer diameters of 200 mm or more generally have around 30-40 teeth. Some higher-power machines or those emphasizing cutting effects may feature designs with approximately 50 teeth.

3. The Thickness of Saw Blades

The thickness of the saw blade is a critical factor; ideally, the blade should be as thin as possible to minimize material consumption. However, if the blade is too thin, it may shake during operation, affecting the cutting effect. Saw blades with outer diameters of 110-150 mm can typically reach thicknesses of 1.2-1.4 mm, while those with outer diameters of 205-230 mm are about 1.6-1.8 mm, suitable primarily for cutting softer woods with lower density. When selecting blade thickness, consider both the stability of the blade and the material being cut. Some companies have started producing saw blades with single-sided or double-sided convex plates, where the outer edges are thicker and the inner alloy is thinner, ensuring cutting thickness while also saving materials.

4. Saw Blade Aperture

The aperture of saw blades of multi-rip saw machines depends on the machine’s requirements. Since multiple blades are installed together, the aperture is typically larger than that of conventional saw blades to ensure stability. Many designs include a keyway for coolant application to enhance cooling and stability. Generally, the aperture for blades with outer diameters of 110-200 mm is between 35-40 mm, while for those with outer diameters of 230-300 mm, it ranges from 40-70 mm. Blades above 300 mm usually have apertures less than 50 mm.

5. Saw Blade Tooth Shape

The tooth design of saw blades in multi-rip saw machines typically features alternating left and right teeth, with some smaller diameter blades utilizing a flat tooth design.

6. Saw Blade Coating

After the saw blade is welded and polished, it is usually coated to extend its service life. This coating also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the blade, especially for those with scrapers. Current welding techniques often leave visible marks, so a coating is applied to maintain appearance.

7. Saw Blades with Scrapers

Saw blades of multi-rip saw machines often feature carbide welds on the blade base, collectively referred to as scrapers. Scrapers are categorized into inner scrapers, outer scrapers, and tooth scrapers. Inner scrapers are generally used for cutting hardwood, outer scrapers for cutting wet wood, and tooth scrapers for trimming or edge banding. For blades under 10 inches, the number of scrapers is typically around 2-4. To maximize scraper effectiveness, most designs incorporate outer scrapers. For blades of 12 inches and above, the number of scrapers is usually 4-8, split evenly between inner and outer scrapers. The use of scrapers is becoming increasingly popular. Foreign companies were among the first to innovate multi-blade saws with scrapers. These designs enhance cutting results, reduce blade burning, improve chip removal capacity, decrease grinding frequency, and increase durability. However, sharpening scrapers can be challenging, as general equipment may not be suitable, and costs are typically higher.
